Today's review is gonna be about a lip product! Honestly I barely used any lip products other than some lip balm or lip essence to keep my lips moisturized. Also to prevent it from chapping. I hate my chapped lips so much .. It looks like a desert was literally on my lips. Urgh.
I've never really tried any lipstick or other colored lip products like lip tint, tinted balm, lip gloss .. so on and so forth.
Until I got a lip cream sent to me! It was in the Lilac Box 7 and I was surprised that they included some makeup products in the box .. They sent me a product made in German, which was the BeYu Lip Cream! I suppose you read it as [bi-ju], it was stated on the container itself. Haha.
The product kept me intrigued much but the color was actually a little bit too much for me. It's kinda like a neon and fuchsia mix of bright pink, I hesitated to use it because of it's bright color (I mean, I'm just a student who wanna sleep in class) I really don't need all the attention right now because I'm so sleep-deprived.
It had been around my stash ever since I received it. After a few times doing full face make-up, I realized my lips look extremely pale and "unappetizing". It's like a zombie lip. Only that it wasn't black in color. But it was so pale .. I looked like a terminal patient myself. =_=
In the end, I decided to try out the BeYu Lip Cream after all! Maybe it will revive my face.
I have no idea what a lip cream is, I've never heard of lip cream before in my life. I mean, they come up with so many names! Tint, lacquer, cream .. I'm totally blur case now. @_@ Marketing loves to play with names so much, even the consumers don't know what the product is anymore.
From the name, I assume that it is something that will glides on smoothly and at the same time moisturize my lips (?). It has a "cream" word in its name, after all. Aren't creams for moisturizing purposes?
Haha. Correct me if I'm wrong. Still a newbie here. *coughs*
Packaging :
It comes in a cylindrical plastic tube with a metallic cover, quite similar to a typical lip gloss. It looked really classy though, with the shiny metallic cover (I have a thing for shiny metals :P)
One fun thing was that, the whole applicator pops up with the cover when you "unscrew" the cover to a certain extent. It's like the pressure inside was higher than the outside and pushes the applicator stick out.
For me, it was a mini surprise! Cause I didn't really expect something like that to happen. Haha. Sometimes I just play with it by opening and closing the lip cream over and over again just to see it pops up.
It pops up automatically!
Hmmm. Maybe that's something about lip cream?
Looks like splashed blood here. o.O
The brush is suuuuuper mini, tucked into the end of the applicator stick.
This is how it looked like when I swipe it once onto my hand. It is more to a bright mix of dark pink and fuchsia. When I first swiped it, it feels really smooth, has a glossy finish to it, and is super easy to apply. The shade was the same as what is shown on the product. When I first sniffed it, it smelled like my favorite alcoholic drink - Bailey's with milk. I know it sounds weird, but I'm sure I'm not drunk while typing this. :O It smelled really creamy, that's all. :)
Product Description
BeYu Lip Cream Art.No. 329.XX 9ml / 0.30 fl.oz.
Intense lip color with high gloss effect
Made in German
Usage
There are two ways you can wear this lip cream, the first one is something I created (?) because I'm not used to using such a bright pink lip product.
The first method, which I normally use, is by dabbing some of the
lip cream onto my inner lip. Then I use my finger to blend it out.
This creates a very light pink shade on my lips that is not to eye-catching. Also it became a sweet pink instead of a bright pink. :D Something that I would wear every day!
Besides that, you can create a gradient lip look by blending it out only a little from the inner lips. In this way, you inner lips will have a darker pink tone while your outer lips will have a lighter pink tone! Heeee :P Korean gradient lips in just one step!
It's not really obvious but it definitely covered up
my pale lips and gave my face some "life"!
If I'm attending a party or something, I might apply it in full so that I can be the center of attention, but on normal days, I would prefer less attention ;)
This is how it looks like when fully applied onto my lips.
It's so bright! It glides onto my lips smoothly (as expected).
What surprised me was that it ends with a glossy finish that made my lips look plumper.
I have darker skin so the bright color might look even weirder on me.
I wouldn't dare to wear it and walk outside the streets.
People might think that I'm crazy.
My mum might think that I'm crazy!
(I don't live in KL.. people here are not used to a young girl wearing bright lipstick, I guess)
It doesn't look too bad after all.
(after taking a spamload of selfies)
I might need some courage to wear this if I were to go out onto the streets. But I will never hesitate to wear this to a party or dinner event. I'm slowly loving the bright but slightly dark fuchsia pink color! :D
(Although at first it was a little bit too much for me, that's one of the problem you face when you get makeup products from a beauty box, you might be dissatisfied with the color the gave you)
Anyway, I'm really glad that I got this from the Lilac Box! Looking forward to more Lilac Boxes in the future.
My Verdict :
Pros :
- Glides on smoothly on the lips, easy application
- Moisturize the lips (for the whole time I had this lip cream on, my lips did not chap-chap easily)
- Amazing glossy finish
- Has some kind of plump effect onto my lips
Cons :
- Short staying power, need to reapply after a few hours (even when used slightly with the first method)
- Easily transferable especially after full application onto lips
- Color is too bright (I needed some time to adjust myself .. even used the gradient lip method to compensate for it! Don't wanna waste the product :X )
- Color was not stated (I would appreciate that if the Lilac Box sent something more baby pinkish rather than dark pink.. doesn't suit my skin tone really well)
