Beauty Box - Elizabeth Arden Concept Box by The Lilac Box

(This was supposed to be posted yesterday ><)

Basically, I was out all day today. I went to Setia City Mall, had an enjoyable day with my secondary school buddies! It was really fun and I felt bad because I had a pet grooming appointment at 5pm. So we LITERALLY rushed back to my house and brought my pet rabbit for grooming. In the last 15 minutes in the mall, we were like gulping coffee and stuffing food in our mouth. (It was supposed to be a relaxing afternoon teatime)

My friends ended up following me because I was already late for the appointment. My rabbit became NAKED after the grooming session. Haha.

After a hectic day, guess what is waiting at home? A parcel! I thought it was for my dad, but turns out it was for me! What a pleasant surprise :D

Clearly, it was from The Lilac Box and I instantly knew what it was. It was the Elizabeth Arden Concept Box! Last month, I got updates from their Facebook page that they are releasing a new box, I thought it was Lilac Box 8, but turns out it was a Concept Box! Concept Boxes can be cheaper or more expensive (normally it's more expensive) than the regular boxes, depending on the content I guess. This time round, the Concept Box centered around the brand Elizabeth Arden, which is from New York.

I never thought about ordering a Concept Box since it's usually more expensive and I'm very sure that my wallet is begging me to leave it alone.

*Its literally yelling "BITCH OWNER, CAN YOU STOP BUYING STUFFS?!"*

AND, of course, right at that infinitesimal moment of hesitation, my brain told me, "It's just RM 58, I'm sure I can just eat lesser and save up the money" and my hands just started miraculously clicking and typing ... 5 minutes later, payment done. *talk about efficiency lol if only I would be that efficient in studying, I would've skipped a few years and become a doctor now. Hah!*

Okay, moving on to the box! I'm sure all of you are as excited as I am .. Hehe.

The box came well packaged and was sent by Gdex. I was glad that The Lilac Box guys are considerate enough to mark the parcel as "Fragile". I mean, that is like super important because in post offices, there are so much parcels to send and sort out in a day, and the workers will just literally throw around your parcel. Your stuff inside will be wrecked, like instantly. It's assuring when you know your parcel is well taken care of. AND.. of course .. they packed the Concept Box, inside a cardboard box. :)

Okay it's not really a box, but it was wrapped around the box for extra protection. Seriously?! Talk about satisfaction! I'm really impressed by them, they pay attention to all the small details!

Onto the real box now! I really love the packaging this time, it was the usual black sturdy box which is unlabelled (you can reuse it as a gift box), but there's a change in the ribbon wrapping! Instead of being tied like a typical bow, it was held together by a piece of paper (yes I didn't type that wrongly).

The design is just so cute! Don't you think so?
At first I thought it was a Chinese motive or something,
but turns out it's a flower made of multiple loves~
I wonder how they did that?

Tadaaaa! Grand opening of the box!
As usual, they included a card about the box which has a brief description about the box.

"Hi there,

You hold in your hands one of the most amazing concept boxes ever - the Mother & Daughter Box. This Box is only possible after we painstakingly looked for the perfect brand partners who are excited about delighting both mom and daughter. It is no surprise that Elizabeth Arden - a gorgeous all-round beauty, from skincare to fragrance to cosmetics - with an impeccable heritage, became our choice. On top of that we also feature prestigious haircare brands, Wella Professional and SP, to pamper your lovely locks.

Divvy up the wonderful beauty trove between you and your favorite lady (be it your mom or daughter) - and set yourselves on a path of discovering beauty together.

We wish you Happy Mother's Day (If you're a mom), and we ask that you eliver our best wishes to your mom (if she is the lucky recipient).

As always, stalk The Lilac Box Facebook page for exclusive beauty updates and giveaways."

So this was actually for Mother's Day! I was feeling weird when I saw that they sent me Mother & Daughter Box ... I thought they sent the wrong box to me. Haha.
Turns out it's also the Elizabeth Arden Concept Box since the card mentioned about Elizabeth Arden as the best brand for this purpose.

I'm so so surprised at the amount of products!
All of them were arranged neatly and there weren't any free space for other items.
The box was fully stuffed with products. I can see that they are all samples since they are quite mini sized. Nevertheless, I'm very impressed by their box-stuffing ability!

A quick glance of what I've got from the Elizabeth Arden Concept Box!

I didn't lie, right? There's a whole bunch of stuff in here!

These are all the Elizabeth Arden products I've got from the Concept Box!
I received a total of 8 Elizabeth Arden products. That's sure is A LOT!!

Some background about Elizabeth Arden

Elizabeth Arden opened up her first spa in the Fifth Avenue in 1910. That was a time when it was rare for women to wear make-up much less run their own business. She was the first to apply scientific innovation and rigor to the beauty industry. She was also world-famous for her holistic approach to beauty. As far back as the 1920's she was encouraging women to hydrate, avoid the sun, and practice yoga daily. As an entrepreneur, a women's advocate, and a champion for holistic beauty, Elizabeth Arden was in many ways a 21st century woman, whose beliefs seem more relevant today than ever before. *she is really an amazing woman*

Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Optimizing Skin Serum
and Gentle Hydrating Cream

From the right -
Elizabeth Arden Visible Whitening Multi-Targeted UV Shield BB Cream SPF 30 PA++ (7ml)
Ceramide Gold Ultra Restorative Capsules
(7 capsules, 3.2ml)
Ceramide Premiere Intense Moisture and Renewal Activation Cream SPF 30
(7.3g)
Ceramide Premiere Intense Moisture and Renewal Overnight Regeneration Cream (7.5ml)

I also received two fragrances samples -
Red Door Aura and Green Tea Honeysuckle (both 1.2ml)

The box also included products from other brands! All of them are haircare products.
That makes up another 4 items I received! :DD So happy now~
Wella Professionals Enrich Moisturizing Shampoo and
Moisturizing Treatment for dry and damaged hair

System Professional Volumize Shampoo and Mask for fine hair

So that sums up all the things I received from the Concept Box!
Even though there's no full sized products, they already did very well by including many products in the box. There's like 12 products in a tiny box!

NEVER UNDERESTIMATE LITTLE BOXES. YOU'LL NEVER KNOW WHAT'S INSIDE *why does this sound creepy?*

My opinion? This box is just superb. Not only it's a Concept Box, but it's also something you can share or give as a present to your loved ones. In this case, of course it's my mum!

But I already gave her a Mother's Day present and Mother's Day passed by so long ago. Plus, my mum has waaaay more skincare stuff than I do. Since I wasn't expecting this to be a gift for moms, I was totally surprised to see that this is actually a Mother & Daughter BoxI mean, I saw The Lilac Box promoted it as the Elizabeth Arden Concept Box. Either way, it's still a Concept Box since most products centered around the brand itself. Also, I can still share them with my mom! Hehe.
Anyhow, I'm really glad that I purchased this even though it is slightly more expensive (RM58) than usual.

The Lilac Box is not a subscription box whereby you subscribe and they send you monthly, it's not that way. They release boxes and updates you about it, you decide yourself whether to buy it or not. I think its better this way because you can choose to buy if you really want that box. They also provide teasers (?) and tells you about the box (if it's a Concept Box like this one), be sure to always check them out to get their latest updates!

The reason I bought this box? It was half impulsive and half curiosity. I know I've been up to the Korean craze lately, but my obsession kinda made me interested in other beauty products in the market. I'm super duper interested in all kinds of beauty stuffs now.

Like ... seriously

Now, I can never pass by SASA, SHINS, SEPHORA, ETUDE HOUSE, INGLOT, BOBBI BROWN, THE BODY SHOP, THE FACE SHOP ... without entering!! *or getting tempted to enter .. hey! I'm controlling something here, okay??*

In conclusion, my wallet can't stand it anymore ...
I will have to find a way to earn money soon.
*or just lock myself in the room and never come out o.o*

First on my wishlist - A MEMEBOX!!

As you might already know, I'm really a die-hard fan of Korean beauty and cosmetics products.
I mean, they make such great products in Korea!
That's why many people travel to Korea I guess.
Because they have super handsome pretty idols (even though some of them are "man-made"),
also their cosmetics and skincare products are also of top notch quality!
And since it's Korea, their products caters mostly for Asians.
I wouldn't have to worry about my skin making a havoc out of a sudden :P

Okay enough rambling! I just wanted to express how crazy (!!) I am towards Korean stuff :O
This is not an advertisement post though. I'm not paid or sponsored to do this ..
Just wanted to let the anxiety rush and urge out of my head!
Because I just wanted to buy this so badly.

So today I wanted to share something new! I recently watched a whole lot of Youtube videos (Yes, I watched them while studying for finals, cause I'm too damn bored =_=
don't ask anything about my results, it's a disaster not worth mentioning).

While watching some reviews about the Beauty Boxes in other countries like BirchBox, BeautyBox and so on, I saw one of them reviewing about the MemeBox.
The name was cute though.
A box for ME and ME? Double ME? Okay I'm being lame now.

Actually I've already heard about Memebox in one of Pony's makeup tutorial (Memebox Colorful Edition) and I thought that it was a Korean Beauty Box only in Korea.
Since Pony is Korean. Haha.

But turns out that they actually cater predominantly to customers in US, they also send Memebox to so many other countries in the world. And again, Malaysia is not there.
I started to think, does Malaysia even exists? They are always not there for anything! Can't even chase any hype like the others. We are always the slower ones. sigh =.=

Okay, moving on!
I was super interested about Memebox and was considering of getting one of them! It is one of the beauty boxes that makes me think "I need to buy that, literally!!!" and it was driving me nuts that I can't have it. Ugh.
They say if you will have greater desire to something you can't have.
That's so true for me :(

Despite all that, the price range is above $20 (RM60++) for a regular box. Inside they have all Korean products! Really wanted to have my hands on one of them so badly until I emailed Memebox and asked about shipping to Malaysia. They gave a prompt reply saying that they will try to open back the shipping to Malaysia in the upcoming few months. I don't know when. I just hope that day comes fast before the end of the world.
Also, it turns out that before this they do ship to Malaysia, but suddenly they closed shipping to other countries and then slowly resumed shipping to different countries slowly. Too bad Malaysia is not on the list yet. Why did I not discover about Memebox earlier?! Godammit.

From their website, Memebox products are sourced, packaged, and shipped directly from Korea straight to your doorstep. That sounds like heaven to me! I swear, if I'm already working now, I'll starve to save the money to buy that Memebox! Now, why am I so crazy about it?

Because it contains chocolate!! Kyaaaa I'm going nuts!

Memebox Cacao $23.00
Image from http://us.memebox.com/memebox-global

The first one is the regular or original Memebox
What is so special about it? It contains chocolate!!
There are a whole lot of others actually. :P
These are some that I was really interested in but some of them were sold out already.
I mean, these things sell like hotcakes!

It comes with 4 to 8 FULL SIZED and deluxe samples. They are carefully curated from Korea to give you the best experience and widest exposure to a range of products.
I read reviews and they were all quite good, and the temptation of receiving FULL SIZED products ..

I have an extremely soft/weak spot for full sized products.
Because it gives me the feeling that the box is worthy of the money!

And getting full sizes means you get to test out the products and give a better review about it, since deluxe sizes normally do not last long enough to see the effects.

The regular Memebox include a huge range of products including skincare, hair care, makeup and all those good stuff.
Really, you can't even compare it to beauty boxes in Malaysia.

But currently Malaysia beauty boxes are the only ones that I can get :( sobs. Whyyyy

Besides the regular Memebox, they also have Superbox and Luckybox.

Superbox #28

Superbox features all full-sized products catered to specific needs, and each Superbox comes with it's own theme which are designed to target particular concerns.
For example, Herbal cosmetics Superbox will contain herbal-related products :D

I'm really digging their idea of packing everything according to different themes, which means that if you have acne/trouble skin, you can choose to buy their Superbox #28, which has a theme of "Free from oil and trouble 3".

The thought of holding that heavy wonderful Superbox in my hands made me stare out into space and wandered off to dreamland, only much worse. I was drooling until I saw the price. Haha. Superbox also means that the price is super. It's more expensive. I will have to spend about RM100 for a beauty box. But since all of them are full sizes, it wouldn't hurt, right? (I can hear the voices already : Can you even finish using them??)

I was totally interested in Memebox Superbox #32
which has a theme of "Bubble Pop Cosmetics".

Superbox #32

Recently I watched a Youtube video by Wishtrend TV which introduces about beauty products that utilizes the fizziness of carbonated water to improve your skin.
Really, Koreans are totally the best in creating fusions out of creativity and innovation. Carbonated water in your drink? Why don't we put it on our face? Seriously they are like Japanese, only they are more into making new weird (?) beauty stuffs.

On their website, they give a brief description of the box and some spoilers about what is gonna be in the box, just so that you can have an idea of what is inside.

For instance, the one spoiler they gave in this box is the "Brilliant Sparkling Powder Set". Seriously, I don't even understand the names of these things.
They just get longer and longer and I don't know what am I looking at.

Okay, it seems like its a powder set (?) that will produce carbon dioxide bubbles when you blend the sparkling powders with water. Seems legit.
Sparkling water + Juice = Sparkling juice
Sparkling powder + water = Sparkling water.
Yeah. Wonderful.

So it claims to leave your skin spick-and-span but also deliver deep moisturising, brightening and tightening results.

I was really curious of using carbonated water beauty products on my face.
I'm pretty sure it feels like 100plus or cola on your face! No you won't get diabetes :P
I'm aware that it will make a fizzy feeling that some people might feel painful,
but I really gave into my curiosity.
Curiosity kills the cat. In this case, it kills off my wallet.

If only it ships to Malaysia .. :'( oh boy.

Image from http://us.memebox.com/luckybox

Then there is the Luckybox. Luckybox includes most popular items selected from previously sold-out Memeboxes, and all combined into one collection. Sometimes some new favourites are added into the box, while most of the time it includes a selection of products from the past Memeboxes. Just like Memebox, you wouldn't know what you will receive in the box, but at least you know it's gonna be something good. I mean, it's the most popular items from previous boxes, that are sold out. Enough information. I'm sold! ;D

They even sell the boxes in sets of 2 and 3 sometimes. They currently have the value sets!! More stuff with a much cheaper price, just what I wanted!
Too bad I can't buy it huhu. I'm devastated. Ugggghhh.. Coping with the anxiety..
I really wish they open back the shipping option to Malaysia. Dying to get one of these!! It immediately became FIRST TOP ITEM on my wishlist (it goes way up from all the others that I wished earlier)

It's not a subscription box service. It's more of like first-come-first-served basis.
Often the boxes are sold out extremely quickly, so I really wanted to grab on one whenever they releases new boxes! I can even give them as a gift to my dear friends ..
Y u no ship to Malaysia?!

Beauty Box - The Lilac Box 7

Now lets move on to another beauty box
I received my Lilac Box 7 last week (finally! not an super overdue post :D) and
I'm really excited about this because this is the first beauty box that I don't know what I will receive!
They don't even give teasers :(
but I bought it anyway. And again, it's another impulse buying. *clears throat*

The Lilac Box is a beauty box whereby you will receive a box filled with beauty, grooming and lifestyle samples from both up-and-coming and premium brands!
Each delivery will include a mix of products across different categories. Their samples come in various sizes, but rest assured that they try to ensure the quantity is more than enough to allow you to figure out if they're right for you. (Let's see if they really live up to the claim :P)

The products are kept in secret until you receive them, so it will be like a TOTAL SURPRISE!! Hehe. But if you're still curious, you can check the list of their brand partners to get a hint :)

After creating an account in their website, you will need to fill out a beauty questionnaire for your beauty profile. Why? It's simply because they will customise the boxes! According to them , some samples are sent to everyone and those products were chosen carefully to ensure that they'll work for a wide range of styles, skin types and colourings. Others will be chosen specifically for your beauty and grooming needs, that's why filling out your beauty profile is that important! It lets them know about your style and you will be getting what you need! They are also committed to never sending their customers the same sample twice!
:D How thoughtful of them!
This was one of the reason I decided to invest in buy The Lilac Box 7
>:D Nye heh heh

WOW! These were what they sent me. I was first stunned by the size of the L'oreal product kyaaaaaa! Are they full sized??
I'm 100% thought that some of them are not samples .. how can a sample be this big?

My very first Beauty Box!

Today I'm gonna share something about my very FIRST BEAUTY BOX! Yes I've join into the beauty box army recently as I accidentally saw it while doing my "research" on skincare. Turns out it has already been popular in overseas for a long time, and Malaysia has also a few of their own beauty boxes! (Bag Of Love, The Lilac Box, Mivva etc)

Now the one I've bought is from Vanity Trove! At first I bought this is because it's customizable, which means that you can pick your own desired products and it will be delivered right to your doorstep! Isn't it tempting? :DD (Since other beauty boxes are not customisable, I was afraid of spending money and getting something I don't need)

I bought this on March actually, so this is one super overdue post! Sorry :/
(yes my obsession has been THAT long and my blog started THIS LATE =_=)

I was impressed by the reviews about Vanity Trove and about their box design,
it is designed to function like a mini drawer! You can store your whatever stuff inside and keep your room clean (I really need that :X)

And so

This is how it looks like after opening the parcel. It looked really expensive, kinda reminds me of premium products packaging with its golden appearance.. One thing really like about the packaging is that it was wrapped tightly in clear plastic. Feels like you just bought a super new product and wanted to tear off everything outside!! *me tearing it off violently*

 Tadaa~! Plastic gone!

They attached a ribbon at one end so that it will be easier to pull it out, just like a drawer <3

Yes sir! I'm ready to discover beauty! >:P

This is how they look inside, sorry it's messy :/

So these were the items I chose in their website
while ordering for my VanityTrove box.

********

Maybe because this is my first beauty box, I was expecting something bigger, something more .. big (maybe I was hoping to get a full sized product that looked like full size :P And I did chose one but it came to my hands almost like a sample sized product).
I chose the Skinz Eye Brightening Essence since I was running out of eye cream and saw that it was full-sized! I guess that I missed that it was only 30 mL.
I'm still a newbie. :( 30mL is really mini sized.

I know that while choosing them they stated the size and everything, whether if its a sample or not, but I was hoping to get something bigger. I don't know, this is so gonna be a lesson for me to not be greedy .. but when my obsession comes there is no room for logical thinking >_<

Another thing I learnt about this beauty box is that what I get were mostly samples (it's okay) but they were manufactured like, 2 years ago? It was stated 2012 on some products and on some, there weren't even any dates or whatsoever on them. Maybe it's because they are samples. (Yeah let's save some printing toner :/)
I wished they let me know beforehand about the manufacturing/expiry date of these items, because I thought that I was able to keep them for a long time.
Turns out that they might expire this year (I mean, it's already 2014!)
and I will be forced to use them ASAP >:) good thing? bad thing?

**********

It cost RM 50 per box, what I bought was the VanityTrove box which you can customize. It is a one time purchase so you can buy it anytime you run out of samples you want.
They have surprise boxes as well in which you won't know what will you receive and it will be a total surprise! They also provide different monthly prepaid subscription plans for surprise boxes, the number of samples you will receive varies from different subscription plans.
